A nice drive to Solo, the sister city of Jogyakarta, will bring you to Susuhunan and Mangkunegaran Palace. See the heirlooms of traditions inherited from the old Javanese Kingdom Majapahit. Then proceed to Pasar Klewer, Java's well known textile market and flea market. On the return to Jogyakarta, you will stop at the beautiful Hindu temple, Prambanan.
An interesting visit to the 1755-era Sultan Palace, still the bulwark of Javanese culture and tradition. Then proceed to Borobudur temple, built in the 9th. century. Nearby are Mendut and Pawon Temples. Lunch at a local restaurant.
